What kind of hate is this? A student "journalist" at the University of Colorado, Boulder has written a disturbing and hate-filled piece called "If it's war Asians want" about Asian students on his campus. The university chancellor, in response to the subsequent understandable outrage, has issued this luke warm press release. You can also read the response from the Dean of the division, who outlines the need for racial sensitivity training---can you say 1985?---but dismisses it as a teaching moment. The chancellor acknowledges that it's hate-filled, yet he rationalizes it by stating it wasn't properly called a "satire," which in his mind would have mitigated its racist and hateful tone. I encourage the chancellor and the department heads to revisit the difference between the obvious freedoms of the First Amendment and, by publishing and then defending the piece in the face of the collective and overwhelming outcry against it, simply validating such loathsome ideology based on hate, fear, and derision.

That wasn't satire. The kid is a total moron. The only future he should have in journalism in the National Enquirer.
