S Reaches for the Camera

The deep joys of parenthood are too numerous to list here, but one of them is the funny things our daughter does while we take pictures. A couple of weeks ago we went hiking in Kings Canyon and took some pictures of her in front of the massive redwoods. Last month, in Carpinteria, we took some pictures of her at the beach (she loves water). A few months ago, I took this picture.

We were giggling together in our front yard, and she was walking toward me. As I took the picture, she reached out for the camera like it was a toy or a banana (her favorite food at the time). It's the only picture I have posted of her (although we've taken hundreds), and it might be the last. I'm just kind of private (or weird) like that.

I am feeling nostalgic and full of joy (yes, I am cheesy like that) with the holidays approaching, so I figure I might as well post a picture (sort of) of our daughter. I am also going to impose another blog break. With the semester just about behind us now and the holidays and our New York trip ahead, I'm going to clock out for a short while. So, I'll see you all soon. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays of all sorts, and best wishes for the New Year.
