Speaking of legendary poets from Fresno, I met Philip Levine today at Blackstone Trader Joe's.

And I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that Lawson Inada has a poem in the latest issue of In the Grove (www.inthegrove.net). Damn. I'm talking to myself again.

Wow, very cool. I grew up in Ashland and went to grade school with his son Toti. Of course at the time I never knew his Dad was a famous poet. But he did tell great ghost stories!

Wow, Jamie...it's a small world, I guess! I haven't been to Ashland (but I'd like to go to the Shakespeare Festival sometime)...forgot Lawson was there. I was really happy to hear about his appointment. He's the first laureate since William Stafford left in the late 80s.

btw, I surfed around on your blog/website...awesome site! thanks for stopping by.

Thanks Lee,

Ashland is definitely worth a visit. I haven't been back since a roadtrip in college––maybe this year though.

It was a magical place to grow up.
