I don't know the exact year, but I think this is from 1975 or 1976, when we lived in the East Bay. I seem very determined to blow out each candle on my birthday cake. Dig the shirt.
Early in 2008, I was at the Loft Literary Center in one of my favorite cities, Minneapolis, for a poetry reading with Sun Yung Shin and Bryan Thao Worra. Pictured from left to right: Bao Phi, Lee Herrick, Bryan Thao Worra, and Ed Bok Lee.
In May 2008, in Seoul, Korea before a poetry reading, we met a nice woman making kimchi, and she insisted I try some and proceeded to feed me a huge mouthful. I had no choice but to devour it--much to my delight. This is one of my favorite pictures.

The kimchi photo should be on your next book. :)
LOVE the kimchi photo! Definitely a good author headshot.
Thanks Collin and Ji In. I love that picture. The woman was so quick with the kimchi, and I was glad someone snapped a picture...some of the best, freshest kimchi I've ever had.
The kimchi is incredible, but the 70s shirt is just killer and reminds me not to resist the allure of synthetic prints!
