Congratulations to Barbara Jane Reyes, whose third book, Diwata, has found a home with BOA Editions and is forthcoming in 2010. Look for it.

Go listen to the NPR interview with Brian Turner, soldier and poet. He talks about the genesis of the title poem from his book, Here, Bullet, how he carried it with him in a plastic bag during roadside attacks, and about his new project.

Thank you to the Hmong American Writers' Circle for inviting me to emcee their historic reading last Saturday. The poems, photography, and documentary film were stirring. These writers are making waves. Burlee Vang is one of them.

Rebecca Mead's New Yorker article on Barack Obama's poetry is interesting . His official website, incidentally, has links to more than a dozen online presences his campaign keeps, including pages at Facebook, BlackPlanet, MyBatanga, and Asian Avenue.

Hi Lee,

It couldn't have been as great as it was without your presence. You were a wonderful addition to our event! Thank you again. By the way, I'm reading your book. "Dancing Near a Body of Water" really resonates with me. Love poems are hard to write, and this is such a successful one. There's something Neruda-like about it. For Mary, her favorite from the collection is "Georgia," which she's been reading aloud in the house.
