thanks, emmy!

i love walker, jenni. before i discovered her fiction, i was a fan of her poetry---good collections include once and horses make a landscape more beautiful.

Not, by any means, to take away anything from any of the amazing women you named in your post, but just to say yes, and that I join you in your gratitude.

A few years ago Pulse of the Twin Cities, a weekly free progressive newspaper in Minneapolis and St. Paul, ran a feature article on women in local rock bands, especially the tougher more vigorous hard rock bands, interviewing band members, talking about women who play rock music, etc.

One woman -- whose name now escapes me, a member of one of the local bands, answered the interviewer, "I think women are made of rock. I think women are the rock the world was built on."

I wanted to get down on my knees and thank her. And reach up and touch the sun and shout "Yes!"

I wish I'd seen this on Women's Day. A wonderful post of gratitude for such wonderful women, Lee. You're so supportive. I would add my mother, Augusta D. Campbell, who always taught me by deed and word that women weren't limited by their gender.

Yes, yes! Such women inspire! Thank you for this, Pris.
