A Whole Lot of Poetry and Music This Thursday and Friday Night

Hey there poetry people, music lovers, those whose heads bob when the good jazz comes on---

In Fresno this Thursday night, November 30 at 7 pm at the Fresno Art Museum, the incomparable Armen Nalbandian will be premiering his new ensemble, "Balance," along with Nino Moschella and the Little Big People, plus a poetry reading to open the event by yours truly. This concert will be hosted by one of the coolest women I know, poet slash organizer slash radio host extraordinaire, Devoya Mayo. Don't miss it. $10 members, $15 nonmembers. Details here.

Friday night, December 1, American Book Award winner Tim Hernandez reads at Arte Americas, along with Marisol Baca and Mike Medrano, two very talented poets. This is an amazing group of writers, and you'll be glad you went. I've seen them all, and they all bring good poetry to the microphone each time. If you are around Fresno City College in the daytime, Tim will be reading in the Student Lounge at 11:00 a.m. For details about Tim's evening reading, visit Arte Americas and click on 'printable calendar.'

Hope to see you there.

The reading and concert went well, in my opinion. I read for about 15-20 minutes...seven poems total, including "A Thousand Saxophones" and a love poem, "Rurrenebaque." The music was awesome. Nino Moschella is incredible if you like soul, funk, indie sort of music. Quite a few folks said some really nice things about my poems.

First time on this site and I wanted to say that the Outrider's reading went wonderfully. Thank you for promoting. I am far away and coming home to so many wonderful people was amazing. The Valley, I do miss it.
