These are tough. I'm taking a *wild* stab and guessing 12, 8, 7, 14 and 4.
Not bad at all...3 out of 5! (It was hard for me to even write the sentence for #12.)
hmm, my guess before seeing Barbara's was 1,8,5,12,13. If three out of her five were right, then I missed big time:-)
ok..Here are 15 for you to guess for me.
1. I saw Jerry Lee Lewis play the piano with his feet and rearend.
2. I loved to wear pretty dresses as a little girl.
3. A lifeguard deflowered me.
4. President Johnson wrote me a letter.
5. I prefer a wheel to a tiller in sailing.
6. I used to have a cat named Monster
7.I hate chocolate.
8.I travled from Boston to Florida on a 22 foot sailboat.
9. I still remember how to tapdance.
10. When I lived in Hawaii I loved three finger poi for lunch.
11. I know how to make a lei.
12. I played in a dance band.
13. I went to the Filmore West in San Francisco.
14. I saw Skinner debate Carl Rogers.
15. I've had an out of the body experience.
2 correct, Pris! not bad...but you get an extra point for agreeing with Ji-in correctly that I do, indeed, love a good dark beer now and then.
you're right that I never won a dime (or appeared) on The Price Is Right (despite my love for game shows).
For yours, I'm guessing 2, 7, 8, 10, and 11.
You got three right:-)..2, 7, and 10. I'll fess...4 and 5 are the others. I always liked a tiller because there was no lever system between you and the boat and the slightest movement or change came up from rudder to tiller and, I think, made sailing more of a connected experience. They're not practical for big sailboats, but for a 22 footer. Perfecto! That's what I made that six month trip in. Poi, you were right. I didn't like one finger poi, either. Just couldn't get the hang of the taste, but liked probably every other authentic Hawaiian dish I tried when I lived there.
Pris
(now when do you fess all of yours??:-)
On my list, 7, 8, and 12 are false. Last call for guesses...I'll tell all Monday night.
3, 7, 8, 11, and 12 are false. But I did see Seinfeld in concert last year, my wife has a brown belt (but I sure don't), my first car was an 81 Toyota pickup, and as I mentioned once before, I love a good dark beer now and again.
On your list, I'm going to guess the false ones are 3, 6 7, 8, and 10. (No real basis for guessing any of these, other than vague notions of probability in general.)
Here's my list:
1. I lived for a short time in a trailer in a small town that later disbanded.
2. I was once two blocks from a tornado that touched down.
3. I was an extra in the Arnold Schwarzeneggar movie "Jingle All the Way."
4. I have a B.A. degree in The Art of Political Poetry.
5. I've never drunk coffee.
6. I received a hand-signed letter from Richard Nixon in reply to a letter I sent him.
7. My favorite musician is Joni Mitchell.
8. I survived (barely) falling through the ice on a lake in northern Minnesota in January when I was 19.
9. One of my favorite foods is pickled watermelon rind.
10. A poem of mine was once published translated into Greek.
11. I once wrote a fan letter to Kurt Vonnegut.
12. I've played Beethoven on the piano.
13. I was introduced (by a mutual friend) to Jessica Lange and Sam Shepherd in a bookstore in St. Paul.
14. My original declared major in college was Religious Studies.
15. I know the words to the "Internationale" in Russian, Tagalog, English, and the original French.
Lee, I posted my guesses about your list before I read any of the other comments or your comment post with the correct answers. Turns out I got three right on your list.
That backpacking trip through Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos had to be just mind-blowing amazing.
Lyle,
Yeah, southeast Asia is beautiful. We flew into Bangkok then trekked north to Laos, down through Viet Nam (mainly in the central part--Hue, Hoi In), and through Cambodia. Phnom Penh is startling and beautiful, and of course Angkor Wat is everything it appears to be and more.
For your list, I would guess...(and I hope I get at least 1 or 2 correct)...5, 8, 9, 12, and 14. Close?
Lee --
You got two right (8 and 14) on my list. My other false ones are 3, 6 and 13.
I have in fact never drunk coffee (#5), have never even tasted it. To me it always smells burnt.
I've played the first movement of Beethoven's "Moonlight" sonata on the piano (#12), though it's been many years.
And yes, one of my favorite foods is in fact pickled watermelon rind (#9). My grandmother made them (watermelon pickles, as she called them), the home canning method with mason jars. She boiled the pieces of rind for a long time so they were no longer tough or crunchy, but more like a cooked carrot or something like that. She spiced it so it tasted like sweet pickles (rather than dill). Mmmm - yummmm!
