Ahhhh....I love how your blog is a plethora of information. It's this post that makes me think, "MUST NOT LIVE IN MINNEAPOLIS. GRRRR." Will you be attending the Film Festival?

soon young, actually i can't make it to the film festival. our semester is winding down, so i'm busy with grading student essays and grading. and, even though LA is only a few hours away, sometimes it feels like a long drive. there is a LOT going on in LA and SF, of course, and even Fresno (half a million) has some cool things going on. but i have to say that i hear good things about minneapolis! at least it seems to have a nice korean population, no?

what's been going on there? are things good?

i suppose i "suffer" from the whole grass is greener on the other side attitude from time to time...i do see the good in living here. there are of course, many adopted koreans here. there are opportunities to get involved. i struggle to find the right niche so to speak. i'm not christian and a lot of the activities do involve a christian influence. there is ak connection, but the few events i've been to i have noticed a good number of cliques which can be intimidating as a newbee. are you going to the mini in seattle? i'll be there. you should go if at all possible!

soon-young, i know what you mean about being a newbee and intimidated...i've been meaning to go to a mini for a few years now...somehow or another, each time it fell on dates where i was either out of the country or i just couldn't make it (plus i am a little shy). i finally have the guts to go...in awesome seattle even...but my cousin emily is getting married that weekend...and i can't miss it. that's a looong way of saying i won't be in seattle, but i wish i could go. maybe next year :)

are you going? i bet it will be a blast.

Hey, now. Minneapolis IS really awesome, for people who like Asian Americans, Asian American literature and just culture in general. Without trying to provoke too much envy for our city here, we do have great and supportive network of transcultural adoptees, and if you come during the summer there's great fun to be had by all.

And no, I'm not getting kickbacks from the board of tourism. ;)
