Two days ago, Steve Westly, Democratic candidate for Governor of California, made a bold and intriguing proposal regarding education at the community college level. As a faculty member at the state's first community college, Fresno City College (founded 1910), I am very interested and hopeful that his message is sincere. It sure seems that way.
